Free Writing

So far, I believe I have done a substantial amount of research, however, I feel I have become so engrossed in the research aspect of this project, that I have forgotten what it is that I am actually focussing on. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve even thought of the exact meaning, or question that I want to answer in relation to this project. This is why I have conducted some ‘free writing’ in my sketchbook because it really helps me to get all my ideas and thoughts down on paper and eligible, instead of being all jumbled up in my brain and forgetting certain aspects of my work.

I started to question myself and write down the questions that I want to answer in regards to this project. These questions have stemmed from the research I have conducted so far, however, I haven’t quite answered these questions fully yet. By answering some, if not all of these questions, I believe that my project will have a strong grounding to it, in turn, allowing the developmental stages of my work to be easier and more understandable.

Personally, I believe that my work becomes more productive when I have a plan set out in front of me. It allows me to focus my time and energy efficiently and without distraction. The next stage for me is to conduct slightly more research to narrow down the specific background information I need for my project; I have decided that the next stage of the project will be looking at handwriting, or in the technical sense- graphology. After speaking to Angela a couple of weeks ago, I thought that it would be extremely interesting to have my audiences handwriting incorporated into my outcome. This makes the voices and opinions of my audience have a more prominent, personal feature within my work. Looking at graphology will allow me to have some understanding of what I am seeing in front of me when I have started to develop some design ideas. The process of developing design ideas is crucial at this point in the project, and I feel like I have fallen behind because of illness and focus on different aspects of research. So, quite frankly I need to spend a lot of time developing these ideas so that I have an final outcome for my crit on the 28th November. To help with the development of my ideas, artist research will be crucial. I haven’t conducted much research into different artists, therefore this should also be a wake up call to get myself into gear even more so than I am already.
