I think now is the time to start developing some ideas, because I feel that I have fallen behind due to illness and focusing perhaps too long on the research aspect of the project. So, I started by designing a large scale installation piece.

By analysing Adam Daley Wilson’s artwork, I concluded that I wanted to create a large scale installation piece that was formed of my audience’s own handwriting. This initial idea would be created on either a large piece of fabric or a large piece of paper, and will be covered entirely of people’s handwriting. They would be prompted on what to write by myself. I will think of something that interests me, perhaps and word and phrase, and then ask the audience to write down their responses and interpretations of what I had told them. This highlights how everyone can be told the same thing, however we all interpret this word/ phrase differently. This could be due to our upbringing, our hobbies, culture, beliefs etc, which I think is extremely interesting.
I believe I would stick to a minimal colour scheme after researching Sanocki and Sulman’s Colour Relation Experiment showing that an audience responds better to a visual object when there are 2 colours featured, as well as when the colour palette is harmonious and works well together. To add some control over the piece, I will allocate the materials, such as pens, paints and inks to the participants so that the piece will look more cohesive with all these different handwriting styles being highlighted on one large piece of material. The next stage of developing this idea further, would be to experiment with different materials, such as fabric and paper, as well as what pens, paints and inks work best on these materials.
